Efren Peñaflorida Jr. of Cavite City, Philippines has been nominated to be one of CNN Heroes for 2009. The young man spearheaded a group of young Filipinos making a difference in their town in Cavite. Efren, along with three other classmates, created Dynamic Teen Company in 1997. The main objective of the group is to divert the attention of Cavite’s young citizen from violent gangs.
These days the group provide access to basic education to destitute young children while providing its members another outlet.
